Masters in Cybersecurity Banner
The term cyber defines activities using computer systems and networks. Experts in cybersystems and cybersecurity aim to find solutions to ensure the efficiency, security, and confidentiality of data production, transmission, storage, and computing systems in different fields and industries such as banking, retail, software systems, and nearly all other industries.

Nowadays, one of the most important needs of cyber technologies in terms of both infrastructure and applications is cybersecurity. Hence, there is a growing demand for experts in the field of cyber systems and information security in both academia and industry (according to the ISC2 2019 report, there exists a shortage of more than 4 million cyber systems and security experts in the world).

The Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering at Koç University has launched in 2020 an innovative Master Non-Thesis program in Cybersecurity that combines several fields in an interdisciplinary format that include:

  • cryptology
  • computer networks
  • operating systems
  • software engineering
  • cloud systems
  • distributed systems
  • artificial intelligence
  • machine learning
  • risk analysis
  • strategic planning, and
  • criminal law

The Master’s program in Cybersecurity offers theoretical and practical courses to meet the aforementioned needs for students and professionals who have completed fundamental computer engineering or equivalent education at the undergraduate level. Courses are taught by renowned faculty members of Koç University’s computer science, computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, industrial engineering, mathematics, physics, law, social sciences, medicine, economics, and business departments.

The program provides the following advantages to recent graduates or more experienced professionals:

  • Theoretical foundations and practical skills to apply the knowledge gained in a wide range of applications and industries
  • An interdisciplinary curriculum with the collaboration of various departments and the opportunity to take some courses online
  • Interaction with several of Koç University’s 200+ research laboratories

As a newly established program, faculty members are on the lookout for driven and academically outstanding candidates who want to expand their industry capabilities and gain a sought-after degree that will increase their post-graduation career choices to new fields (e.g. banking, finance, consulting, and government) and long-term career trajectories.
