What is the IIE Syria Consortium Scholarships Program at Koç University?

The IIE Syria Consortium Scholarships Program at Koç University was launched in 2014. It is a joint scholarship program between Koç University and the Institute of International Education (IIE) Syria Consortium. It provides partial tuition scholarships for 2 high-achieving students from Syria to pursue their undergraduate degrees at any of Koç University’s 22 undergraduate programs every year.

The IIE Syria Consortium Scholarships at Koç University offers:

  • 50% tuition scholarships in any of Koç University undergraduate programs

Launched in 2012 at the Clinton Global Initiative, the Institute of International Education (IIE) has established a consortium of colleges and universities in the United States and abroad providing scholarships for Syrian students whose education has been disrupted by the conflict.

Since then the Syria Consortium has provided more than $4.5 million in assistance to 333 Syrian students and supported more than 500 students.

Additionally to this scholarship program targeting Syrian students, Koç University has awarded full Scholarships to Syrian students in its graduate programs thanks to its existing graduate scholarship funding.

Also, between 2017 and 2019 it also offered Scholarships for Syrian students interested in pursuing an undergraduate or Master’s Non-Thesis degree in sciences or engineering (Al-Ghurair STEM Scholars Program at Koç University).
