Assoc. Prof. Tuğba Bağcı Önder received the award for her research on the molecular mechanism of resistance to a drug called TRAIL, which orders cancer cells to self-destruct in the treatment of glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer.

Prof. Alper Uzun and his Ph.D. student Yuxin Zhao were awarded for their article, published ACS Catalysis with cover art, presence of an interplay between the copper nanoparticle size and the oxygen vacancies on the Mg-doped ceria controlling the partial hydrogenation performance and stability of the copper active sites.
