Huawei Graduate Research Support Scholarship

Koç University signed a cooperation agreement in September 2018 with Huawei Türkiye R&D Center to support world-class research by our graduate students in the area of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). Huawei is one of the world’s leading information and communication technologies (ICT) solution providers and the Türkiye R&D Center is the company’s largest R&D center abroad receiving upwards of USD 20 million of continuing investments annually.

Koç University can offer graduate students interested in ICT excellent research facilities, supervision by faculty members trained in the best universities worldwide, and a support system to support their entrepreneurial interests through our Technology Transfer Office and KWORKS our entrepreneurship center.

Scholarship aim and scope

The aim of the Huawei Graduate Research Support Scholarship program is the financial support of the students who are either full-time current graduate students at Koç University or who have been accepted by the related Graduate School into a Masters or Ph.D. program, and whose research will specialize in Information and Communication Technologies

Within the scope of the Huawei Graduate Research Support Scholarship, 2 different scholarships will be offered in the Academic Year 2022/23:

• 2 Support Scholarships for Master with Thesis Students of 1500 Turkish Lira per month for a maximum of 2 years (subject to satisfactory performance)
• 2 Support Scholarship for Ph.D. Students of 2000 Turkish Lira per month for a maximum of 4 years (subject to satisfactory performance)

Eligibility

• Students who are current Koç University students or have been offered admission to a Koç University Master or Ph.D. ICT relevant program.
• Students who are or will be conducting research in the fields of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
• Students can receive other funding in the form of scholarships or grants. The Huawei Graduate Research Support Scholarship allows recipients to apply for scholarships from different sources and/or continue to receive scholarships.
• Students can’t be Huawei Türkiye employees.

Selection process

• An application form is available from the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering (please request the form by emailing gsse@ku.edu.tr)
• Current students or potential graduate candidates who declare their wishes to benefit from the program will submit a letter of intent that includes relevant information about their area of research and patents, publications, theses, or other information.
• The application will be evaluated jointly by the Graduate School of Sciences and Engineering relevant program coordinators and the Huawei Türkiye R&D Centre for selection.

Requirements for Master students	Undergraduate GPA (minimum)	2.90/4.00
	Motivation letter	A motivation letter explaining why you want to pursue graduate education in the ICT field and the expected benefits of receiving the Huawei Graduate Research Support Scholarship for your research career development
	Publications/Patents and other supporting information or documents	Documents that can provide evidence of publications, patent applications, projects, and other activities that demonstrate your interest and/or expertise in the field of Information and Communication Technologies
	Recommendation letter	A letter of recommendation issued by the student’s academic supervisor or the relevant unit at Koç University
Requirements for Ph.D. students	Masters’ GPA (minimum)	3.40/4.00
	Motivation letter	A motivation letter explaining why you want to pursue graduate education in the ICT field and the expected benefits of receiving the Huawei Graduate Research Support Scholarship for your research career development
	Publications/Patents and other supporting information or documents	Documents that can provide evidence of publications, patent applications, projects, and other activities that demonstrate your interest and/or expertise in the field of Information and Communication Technologies
	Recommendation letter	A letter of recommendation issued by the student’s academic supervisor or the relevant unit at Koç University
